Overview
There is an obesity crisis in America, and it is affecting every age group and every demographic. Dining out contributes to this dilemma and presents special dietary challenges. It is important to have an eating plan and stick with it when dining out. If we know what the greatest challenges are, we can develop success strategies for ordering smaller portions, lower-calorie foods and for avoiding danger zones when eating out.
Description
Download the color handout file in PDF (8 1/2 X 11 inches) and print to your heart's content for one site (if you need more than one site call us at 800-462-2352 for additional site licensing).
Learning objectives and benefits:
One side looks just like our 'Dine Out the Smart Weight' poster
The other side explains how to avoid 8 danger zones when dining out.
The handout offers a variety of recommendations on smart ways to order delicious foods at a restaurant. Some tips include: sharing large portions, ordering sauces and dressings on the side, filling up with a low-fat salad or soup to start, drinking calorie-free beverages and having fresh fruits for dessert.
The 'Best Bets' section describes which choices are best when trying to order foods low in fat - grilled seafood, grilled chicken breast, and steamed veggies are some examples. The 'Danger Zone' points out types of foods your clients should stay away from when dining out, such as fried foods, deep dish pizzas, creamy coffee drinks and unlimited bread baskets.
